The re-opening of Summit Grove Lodge in 2011 is a historical milestone - the latest of many in the life of this beautiful wooded site long known for Northwest hospitality.
Headley's Camp as the property was first known was one of the area's most popular "eating houses" dating back to the 1880s. More and more services were added as the Pacific Highway was developed, and in the 1920s, Summit Grove Lodge was constructed.
The rustic elegance and pristine setting attracted visitors from near and far, the famous and the infamous. Guests included President Roosevelt, Clark Gable, Shirley Temple, Jack Benny, Laurel and Hardy, Cornelius Vanderbilt and John Dillinger.
Summit Grove Lodge was listed on the Clark County Heritage Register in 2002. The original cedar-log walls, beams and ceiling remain. The historical ambience is enhanced with state-of-the-art amenities, making it the ideal venue for weddings, reunions, private parties, corporate meetings and other business gatherings.

Summit Grove Lodge was purchased in 2009 by the Colf family of Woodland, Washington, whose roots in the area go back to 1870 when Andrew Jackson Birt settled in the Lewis River Valley. The family has long taken an active interest in bettering the local community through historic preservation projects that are in North Clark County and often played a role in the family's own history.
